Japanther brief history. NEWS

In the five plus years "Japanther" has exsited They've done a lot with that name. Rock operas, water ballet, more than 16 sizable tours, 4 seven inches, 5 CDs and and 2 LPs. They've performed on street corners, in art galleries, people's bedrooms, bathrooms, showy ballrooms, under freeways, on boats, etc.

New York City is constanty reinventing and renewing, in turn they are constantly asking where might "Japanther" fit into this mess? Only vaguely aware of what was going on in their own city and even less in the world, JPNTHR set out on a wild adventure.

Japanther's goals: 1.To effect people using positive dance rituals. 2. To stand tall in the wake of creative energy. 3. To escape drudgery and have FUN whilst traveling.

The Juiceboxxx single is going fast over the mailorder and we hit the road in our van in less than a month. Skuffed Up My Huffy has dropped over in Australia and threatens to come out in Canada before the US sees it, but oh well. Cool art is worth wating for. NEW USA ALBUM IN JUNE 2007!

Dateline 1/26/07 Brooklyn, NY Happy New Year! Japanther just returned from a two week southern tour. It was honestly one of the best tours i've ever been a part of in my young life. Thanks to all the parties involved. Look for a special DVD of this tour out later this year on Recess Records (one of many dream labels!) The big news is another Austalian tour this March and the near drop of the Juiceboxx/Japanther split seven inch. More information on both really soon! Above: Black Floor Gallery at Philly ICA> JPNTHR.

Dateline 7/12/06 USA Japanther's Plant-It-X fest tour was a huge success. We toured with "VX3", a film by Chad Von Nau and scored live music to the film. The highlights being the PIX fest show at Rhino's and Black Floor Gallery corner / split screen.

Dateline 7/5/06 Brooklyn. NY The July 4th benefit for COMMON GROUND RELIEF (http://commongroundrelief.org) was a smashing success! We raised over $3600 and had a blast in the process. View the check here. View Tod's photos.

Dateline 7/4/06 Brooklyn, NY Last Firday we premeired our score to Chad Nau's VX3 film at the McCarren Park pool. We also ripped a full set included a cover of "Banned In The USA" by 2 Live Crew. The unique performance was a part of the Billyburg Short Film Festival. It was such a great night with rain storms, wind and great films. The following Sunday we played a a solar powered concert (Solar 1) on 23rd St. and the East River in the rain under a huge tarp and kids were crowd surfing! It was like playing a wild show under the parachute in elementary school. The Boston band dream House fully came to mind. Two really fun shows back to back and despite the rain! Now we look forward to the 4th of July Gulf Coast show at the Treehouse in Bushwick.

Dateline 7/2/06 New York, NY JPNTHR played under a huge tarp at "Citysol" presented by Solar 1. Solar 1 is a "Green" building in NYC <3. View Tod's photo.
